RoboSensation

The RoboSensation cluster focuses on the development of cognitive, emotional, social and motor intelligence for robotic systems to enable resilient and adaptive collaboration with humans. The aim is to enable robots to be used in mixed-skill environments such as production, logistics or medicine. Resilient and collaborative robot systems are a key technology for flexible, intelligent production and medicine, as they can combine complementary skills of humans and machines in a closely interlinked, potential-oriented collaboration. RoboSensation is developing AI methods that promote the complementarity of these skills in order to create robust, efficient and trustworthy systems that can act intuitively in complex mixed-skill environments and anticipate future states.

Focus areas:

  • Entwicklung kognitiver, emotionaler und sozialer Roboterintelligenz
  • Development of cognitive, emotional and social robot intelligence
  • Multimodal sensor fusion for robust detection of gestures, facial expressions,  and situational context
  • AI-supported adaptive behavior modeling and planning of dynamic action strategies
  • Intention-based interpretation of user actions
  • Use of social signals for context-sensitive interaction modulation
  • Lie detection using audio and video modalities
  • Enabling robots for use in complex, heterogeneous mixed-skill environments
  • Implementation of resilient algorithms for robust and adaptive reactions
  • Use of affective state analysis to improve the emotional intelligence of robotic systems
  • Semantic context analysis for the interpretation of complex environmental and user signals
